We flew down on on Friday night after work, stayed at the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens .. beautiful hotel! Enjoyed pizza late on Friday night, it was so tasty! YUM!
Saturday morning we got up and headed to the markets! Freezing outside and a lovely wind ... needless to say layers were a MUST! Great markets, fantastic little shops, food and people! They had a stand that sold homemade 'American' doughnuts .. amazing .. we decided to sample a 'few' .. yummmmm!
Nothing like getting a warm cup of coffee
....and walking though the markets on a Saturday morning!
Next we headed into the city (on the tram) for some shopping!
We were lucky enough to meet up with our good friend Edith who moved from Sydney to Melbourne a while ago! Ed and I used to nanny together in Sydney!! Pete was laughing because our feet didn't touch the ground while we were waiting for the tram .. =)
Great shops, fantastic clothes & styles and we just 'happened' to find a 'few' things that were perfect for each of us!!
A warm dinner in a pub with a fireplace before going back to the hotel to get ready for Mary Poppins!
Next .. Mary Poppins... AMAZING! What a show!!! My husband LOVED it ... but then who couldn't love Mary Poppins! She actually flew over the crowd on her umbrella .. it was fantastic! Singing, dancing and tap dancing was all part of the fun! Back to the hotel for drinks before we all hit the bed snoring ... lovely beds too!! =)
Sunday morning we had a long sleep in and found a great little cafe in the city for breakfast! Spent the morning shopping in town
.. the new David Jones (just like Nordstroms in the states) had just opened, so we felt it was our duty to check it out!! =) Love new stores .... !!! I've been on the search for the perfect brown boots this year .. and I just happened to find them... on SALE!!! =) Always makes a girl happy!
Sunday afternoon we went to the Titanic Artefacts (Artifacts .. spelling depending on which country you live in ..ha) expo! They had over 250+ items that have been brought up from the bottom the the ocean floor. It was unbelievable .. things were able to be preserved for so long. There was shirts, boots, hats, suitcases, dishes, combs, money, postcards, letters and such ... really an amazing expo to look though.
Enjoyed a tasty meal in a pub, cozied up by the log fire Sunday evening, before dashing out into the rain to catch a cab to the airport!
Landed home exhausted but happy at midnight -- !!! Quick sleep and up and running on Monday morning!! =)
